What to Leave Behind
Yosemite has specific rules to protect wildlife and the experience. Save pack space by leaving these at home.
- Bear spray — Prohibited in Yosemite. Black bears aren't aggressive like grizzlies; make noise and give them space.
- Drones — Not allowed in any National Park without a permit.
- Bluetooth speakers — Sound carries far across granite. Use headphones if you need music.
- Dogs on hiking trails — Pets are only allowed on paved paths like the Valley Loop, not dirt trails.
